On a sensational night of glitz and glamour, The Old Loans Inn won the Best Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year award at the inaugural Prestige Hotel Awards at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
The popular SimpsInns venue on the outskirts of Troon is a favourite for locals and guests travelling from further afield looking to enjoy great food and a wonderful dining experience.
The cosy country pub and restaurant faced stiff competition from the likes of the Auchrannie Resort on the Isle of Arran and The Raeburn Hotel in Edinburgh.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have won this prestigious award. It is recognition for all the hard work the team at the Old Loans Inn put in to make sure our guests have a most enjoyable dining experience with us,” said George Paton, Operations Manager at the Old Loans Inn.
“We are fortunate to have a loyal following with customers who come back time and time again to the Old Loans Inn to order tasty dishes throughout the day in a friendly, welcoming environment.”
Situated in the village of Loans, the Old Loans Inn is also a bespoke 20-bedroom hotel where guests who stay at the four-star property benefit from the extensive menu choice and casual dining options during their stay.
In the last 12 months, the owners reconfigured some of the public space to create a new Whisky Library at the Old Loans, perfect space adjacent to the bar for private dining or to celebrate a special family occasion.
in the main restaurant and beside the original stone fireplace was also upgraded to provide more dining options plus give prominence to the daily specialities boards that offer innovative Ayrshire dishes.
“This is a wonderful achievement for the Old Loans Inn but also great for our customers, who vote with their feet and enjoy dining with us through the year,” said Irene Leslie, SimpsInns Group Operations Director.
And as if winning one award wasn’t enough, the SimpsInns team who attended the awards ceremony in Glasgow almost brought more silverware back to Ayrshire.
The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride was shortlisted in the Wedding Hotel of the Year category but had to settle for runner-up behind Boclair House Hotel in Bearsden, Glasgow.
Gavin McGill, SimpsInns Group Executive Head Chef, was also shortlisted in the Chef of the Year Category but was pipped by Kevin Dalgleish from the Chester Hotel in Aberdeen.
